Founded in 1974 as the Quad City Friendship Club, the Quad-City Plus 60 Club has spent over 50 years promoting active, healthy lifestyles for seniors in the Quad Cities area. Originally formed in partnership with the Quad-City Times, the club was renamed in 1975 and quickly became a "model for the nation," even receiving recognition in the 1977 Congressional Record.
Today, the club serves nearly 6,000 members aged 55 and older with a mission to provide affordable recreational, educational, and social opportunities.
Key Highlights of Our History and Mission:
- A Milestone Legacy: In 2025, the club celebrated its 50th Anniversary, reflecting five decades of community service and engagement.
- Volunteer-Led: Despite its large membership, the club remains a non-profit organization managed entirely by a volunteer board of directors, ensuring that member fees directly support activities rather than overhead.
- Diverse Programming: From its early days of bus trips and dances, the club has expanded to offer golf tournaments, baseball outings, fine arts events, and multi-day international travel tours through partners like Tri-State Travel.
- Community Impact: Beyond social events, the club gives back through a Community Outreach Grant program, which supports local agencies providing essential services to seniors.
